She was born April 4, 2002 in Chattanooga. At the age of 3, Maddie was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma and fought to beat cancer for twelve years. At the age of 15, Maddie finished treatment and was considered cancer free.
Maddie accomplished many things in her life on this earth. She worked as a cashier at Ace Hardware in Ooltewah and always greeted her customers with a smile. She graduated high school a semester early and had the privilege to walk across the stage as a graduate of the class of 2020 at Ooltewah High School. She planned to attend college to become a Radiologic Technician.
Maddie was an inspiration to all who knew her or heard her story. Maddie fought with strength, courage, and determination throughout her entire life. She never let any obstacle stand in her way, but saw it as a challenge to overcome. She especially showed incredible strength as she endured her latest fight to overcome the damage the cancer treatment left on her body. Maddie has won the battle and is healthy and strong in the arms of Jesus.
Maddie will be greatly missed by her mom and dad, sister and brothers, family and friends, and all who knew her. She touched the hearts of those who followed her story and knew of her life.
A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses from Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, UAB Children’s, Cincinnati Children’s, and the UAB Highlands for giving her the fighting chance, loving her, and letting her inspire you and touch your hearts forever.
The world will forever be changed without her shining smile, but her legacy will live on through the hearts of those who loved her.
