He was born March 28, 1961 in Athens, Tennessee. James was a lifelong resident of Riceville where he retired as a security guard for CPQ Professional Imaging. He was an active member and admin of Calhoun Minkbook. James enjoyed basketball, racing, American muscle cars, genealogy, and Bigfoot research.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Barbara Roderick; infant brother, Steven Roderick; grandparents, James and Lucille Crabtree and Fred and Ida Roderick; and grandson, Colby James Chastain.
Survivors include sister, Teresa (Brian) Herold; nieces, Tiffany Densmore and Trina Potts; children, Amber Chastain and Josh (Brittany) Chastain; grandchildren, Christa Lawson, Jairus Pettaway, Maddison Chastain, and Keller Chastain; great grandchildren, Ryker Harrington and Ezra Lawson; partner, Susan Crittenden; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation for James "Dewayne" will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404, followed by a chattanooga memorial park at 2:00 PM.
