It is hard to believe it has been a year since that terrible day I found out about Jim's passing. There hasn't been a day that has gone by since then that I haven't prayed for him and thought about the boxing matches, table tennis games, football practice, fishing trips and semi-friendly arguments we had together - not to mention his extreme generosity.

First I want to say how terribly sorry Rick & I are for your loss. Jim was a super fun guy who I remember at the Radford Women's Basketball games years ago. He seemed to love life, his super cute & fun wife & family so very much! I know this is extrememly difficult for you all. Know that you've all been on our minds & in our prayers. On behalf of Pueblo Central High School, I would like to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. 
Mr. Brunjak funded a “Ray Brunjak 100% Scholarship” at our school for the past 20+ years. Mr. Brunjak helped countless Central Football players with their college tuition for giving 100% on the field and in the classroom. 
Due to his generosity and philanthropy, he he kept his father’s proud name echoed in the halls and trophy cases at Central High School. 
Personally, I was able to give the award seven times and see the look on these young men’s faces when they win this prestigious award. 
We are fortunate enough to continue to give this award for the next few years thanks to Mr. Jim Brunjak’s donations. He also gave money last year in the name of legendary Coach Jim Ranson. Our basketball teams benefitted greatly from this kind gesture. 
I know Mr. Jim Brunjak will be missed wholeheartedly by his personal family, but he will also be missed tremendously by his Central Wildcat Family.

Jim and Rhonda Brunjak have never forgotten their roots. They made many generous donations to their high school alma mater, South High School in Pueblo, CO. They did so through the South High School Alumni Foundation and over the years their generosity allowed, among other things, the purchase of hundreds of computers and calculators for use by teachers and students. Learning was and is enhanced to this day.

Most recently, they funded the complete refurbishment of a time-worn 1971 outbuilding behind the school that was used for storage and by the baseball team in inclement weather. Now this 40- x 80-foot structure, resplendent with heat and astroturf, new lighting and insulation, and new siding and roofing no longer is a storage bin, but a top-notch indoor space that will be used by boys baseball, girls softball, the boys and girls golf teams, cheer and dance squads, and even marching band units and the occasional gym class. 

You may forever know a generous soul by such care. Jim Brunjak touched thousands of kids seeking knowledge and pursuing excellence. For that he will not be forgotten.

 To the Brunjak Family,  I am sorry for your Loss.  Stay close to each other with love and compassion. Jerry 

I have know Jim for only 7 years. Seems like 70. That’s the guy he was. Always asking about my problems,not his. Always bragging about his family and how much bigger or longer his fish was. We shared our love for fishing and took that to the ends of the earth  Our last trip together was the bottom of South America. Yes, he caught the biggest!!  Mary and I will always have you guys in our prayers. Loved him like a brother 

Brunj is one of my favorite hoops junkies in Pueblo.  We played for hours in the summer days of our high school years and he became a great friend and encouragement to me when I was having a difficult time growing or I should say not growing.  He pulled me under his wing as a mentor does and made me feel like the most important person in the gym even though I went to another high school.  

That was a special team at South his senior year and he had a tremendous state tournament including the championship game where I think he scored 25 points leading the Colts from his point guard position.

So happy I got to catch up with him at a Pueblo GPSA dinner a few years ago where the '75 Colt B-Ball Team was honored as one of the best high school teams in Pueblo history.

I can only imagine your grief and pray that God will send his Holy Spirit of Truth to comfort you and help you get through.  The Christian hope is that we will be reunited with loved ones in Heaven and I know Brunj is up their looking after all his loved ones now and waiting for that time to come!

Dear Brunjak Family,
It was a pleasure to have known Jimmy growing up in Pueblo and later at Colorado State University. We shared some great times. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to hang out and reminisce with Jimmy during his induction ceremony a few years ago for the South High Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
I am so sorry for your loss and extend my heartfelt condolences .

Mrs. Brunjak, Jesse, Maggie, Emma, and his entire family which has grown with beautiful grandbabies.
 Hearing of this has hit me very hard. Coach Brunjak was one of those early mentors in my life that the older I get more I value the time I had him as my coach. Years 12-18 are crucial to learning lessons that go far beyond the basketball court. Those are years that help mold you as the person you are going to be. He taught us all lessons in enthusiasm, humility, hard-work, team-work and going that extra "mile". I remember at the end of practice Jesse would always do an extra (or several, I never stuck around to count how many) suicide(s). I thought she was crazy, we just ran plenty during practice. I understand now why she did that, it was the influence of her very wise father and coach. I am so sorry for you all and hold you in my heart and prayers. I think he knew how much he meant to the entire Freedom family, I wish I had the chance to have told him myself.

When news of Jim's passing reached our circle of former Pitts Junior High Ponies and South High Colts, I was overcome with deep sorrow for all you.  Reading over the memories that have been written, it is clear that the most salient positive qualities from his formative years continued on throughout his life.  I never knew a person who worked harder on the basketball court.  I pray for the Lord's grace and healing for the Brunjak Family, and all of his extended friends and loved ones.  May Jim's legacy live through all of us as we strive to make the world a better place. 

As sad I was to hear of Jimmy's passing, I soon recalled treasured memories growing up on Driftwood Lane in Pueblo, Colorado.  Jimmy, Greg, my brother and I experienced a treasure chest full of memories.  I smile when I recall the numerous card games, sleepovers, snow football games, camping and fishing trips we shared over the years.  I remember one camping trip when Jimmy got a fish hook stuck in his lip.  His grandfather found a doctor in a nearby town to remove the hook.  Afterwards, we always laughed and smiled when recalling the adventure. So many memories; he will be sorely missed.

Hello Rhonda, Jessie, Maggie, Emma and family. Through the years I've always kept you in my heart.  Jim was truly a remarkable man and will be greatly missed by all.  I thank God for giving me the pleasure of meeting Jim. Remember one thing and that is he left a smile on all our hearts so when feeling sad or down think of Jim. I love you and sending my prayers.

Jim was unmistakably one of a kind. Throughout the two decades I knew him, his illuminating presence never dulled. From the first day I met the ‘Brunjak family from Texas’, I knew they were special. Over the years, I have had countless memories with Jim, Rhonda, Maggie, Emma, and my dearest Jesse, who has been an eternal sunshine in my life. Last summer I was fortunate enough to visit Jim in his element...fly fishing in Lake City, CO. The entire family was present. And in that moment, like so many that preceded it, I too was family. That’s how Jim operated, accommodating and welcoming, his generosity unmatched. His mark on my life, this world, is profound. I will miss this man. I love you, Brunjaks!

To Rhonda,Jesse,Maggie,Emma and the Brunjak Family. I knew JIM and loved JIM as a brother. I coached an AAU girls basketball team , with Jim (and you know JIM had to be the Head Coach) I was still A  Police Officer full time.  Jim and I, stepped on each other’s toes, during basketball games but JIM , would (say it’s just team work Coach).Jim and I , stayed in touch.  I miss Coach Brunjak.  My deepest prayers to the Brunjak Family 

I never really knew Jim well.  However, when I had to compete against him in the marketplace,  I always knew that he would a formidable competitor.  Well done life Jim,  just too darn short.  My prayers got out to you and your family.

From the oil and gas business. Jim was one of the best!  A savvy negotiator. An honest business man.  A delightful entertainer.  A lover of good wine.  A wonderful friend.  He’ll be missed.

It is so much darker when a light goes out than it would’ve been had it never shone. 

Jim was a boss, mentor and most importantly a friend to me. A humble man who cared far more for others than he ever did himself. 

I have worked for Jim for the last 5 years and wouldn’t change a thing. He was always the first to work (I tried to beat him there for a while...that didn’t happen often). Jim constantly challenged me to be the best and would hold me accountable. He constantly challenged me to think different ways and push myself. I am a stronger worker and a better thinker because of Jim. I will miss his work ethic and the constant reminder that family comes first. He was simply the best. He said what he did and did what he said.

I am so heartbroken for you all. Jim was an incredibly kind and generous soul.

 I have so many memories of him at basketball supporting us all and always greeting me with a smile and a huge hug.  I have had many laughs with him and can remember some from Jesse’s wedding especially. He was just a great person who could light up a room and I will always remember how great he could make you feel with his attitude and smile.  He will always be remembered for making the world a happier place.

I can’t possibly recount all the times Jim made me laugh. I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who could light up a room quicker than Jim Brunjak. I cried the day he left the company he hired me into...and I have tears now.  But he’s now in his Fathers house, where his infectious love for humanity will be well received. May God bless and comfort your family, Jim. Thank you for the sunshine, and the group of friends you made me a part of.

Jim will be missed by his family, his friends, and the entire industry that he was so passionate about.  I will never forget his energy, his drive, his will to make things happen.  I remember once at a business dinner, I made a comment in passing.  Jim looked at me and said "do you really want to do that?  because if you do, I'll make it happen."  He meant it too.  He was a force of nature!  I will miss him.

Jim was my friend for over 30 years. I would often  joke with him that he was more Irish than I . Jim had  a great  love of family, life, adventure  and people.  May God hold you in the palm of His  hand. I will miss you.

To say I am saddened doesn’t seem sufficient. I first met Jim back in his days at Cinco Supply. We were both a couple of young men absorbing all the knowledge we could. Over the years we had wild and fun times, stressful times, and sometimes things would go as planned. The bottom line at the end of the day we were always friends.  One thing that was constant was his love for his family.

I believe most all of Jim's acquaintances throughout his community, family, as well as friends in the oil industry are saddened by this sudden loss.
Jim and I met when I worked for Wilson Industries in Dallas back in the early 90's.  A lot of us, (even though
competitors were friends and Jim and I competed for the same business for years and he always let me know about it)!
We all shared good times, as well as trying times in this crazy but fun industry.
I had the opportunity to meet two of Jim's lovely daughters over the past 9 years and have worked with Jesse on-and-off for years
now. Jesse is an outstanding young lady, beautiful, kind, smart, aggressive and outgoing, and very family oriented as well.
You can tell she came from a very loving and close knit family.
My heart is broken as well for this loss, and for the family. However, I know God has lifted Jim up and his spirit will live on forever.

I am so very saddened about Jim leaving to meet his maker.  Remembering is not hard, his is in every sense unforgettable. 
From knowing him in business, working out with him at The Sports Club, playing some golf, wild trip to Terlingua for the Chili Cookoff and witnessing Jim start his own company and making a successful impact in the oil & gas industry.   Never was short on words to say the least.  
Jim was a lovably unique personality.

Jim was such a great friend.  His example of family first is such a hallmark of what made Jim tick, and was such an inspiration to me as a father and husband.  I remember the jousting we would do over Irish and Longhorn football, but always in good fun.
My nickname for Jim was “Jimma”, as that was a reference to President Jimmy Carter.
That’s how far back we go.

I have known Jim for over 35 years.  We first met through business and became close friends.  I can say without a doubt that Jim was someone that you could always count on.  We have been on many fishing and hunting trips and golf outings  through the years and I have many fond memories that I will never forget.   Jim had and will always have a very special place in my heart.   This was a total shock to me and a day I will never forget. We met through business.  We had numerous rounds of difficult negotiations through the years but Jim was always quick to put business aside and talk about friends and family and fishing.  It was easy to know it was about more than business with Jim.  Just a few weeks ago he send me a short email just asking "How is life treating you?".  I will miss him.

Jim was a wonderful and faithful friend....and one of the most genuine guys I have ever known.....The obit captures his love and priorities very well....But, I would add that Jim also loved to compete....That is part of what made him so successful in his business....He never met a stranger.... He enjoyed his friendships and was always building new ones....I have learned so much from Jim over the many years of our friendship....I miss him! Jim and Rhonda have been our next door neighbors for the past 11 years.     I have always admired his devotion to family and his success in business.  He will be greatly missed.

Jim was the brightest light in the room, yet never wanted to outshine others.  He did so much for so many, but never wanted more than to push you to be your best and help you be successful in life.  He believed in the the core values of life that we all so easily forget.  He stood for unity, community, loyalty, hard work, and above all else, family.  When you truly knew Jim Brunjak, that’s exactly how you felt.  Thank you Jim for everything you did, and more importantly, the man you were and what you stood for.  I will truly miss you my friend.  It was an honor and a pleasure to be in your circle.

Jim was a staunch supporter of Chambliss Center for Children, having started a golf tournament to benefit the agency when he headed up Tioga Pipe Supply.  He was such a cheerleader for our kids and staff, and was instrumental in getting folks on board to support us.  He was always fun, but took care of business.  His light and laughter will be so missed.

I met Jim years ago when my husband Scott worked for him.  He was definitley a "Go Getter" and from the words of my husband, "The Best Salesman Ever"! He expected hard work from his staff but always made them feel appreciated and took care of them.  He woud plan great trips and outings for his staff which included the spouses so we were like a big family.  What I loved and admired the most about Jim was no matter what all was going on, when it came time to sit down and eat, he was sure to stop everyone to pray and give thanks to His Saviour for the food, friends and many blessings.  I know he is with our Lord Jesus Christ and our Lord will give great comfort to Rhonda and the rest of his loving family.  Ecclesiastes 3 : To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...

Jim was the type of person who made you want to be better. He was an amazing man to work for and he always made sure we knew we were appreciated. Jim treated each one of us like we were his family, and I am very grateful to have known him. He will definitely be missed by all.  

I first met Jim one saturday afternoon. My wife and I were playing the 14th hole at the Champion's Club in Ooltewah when she saw this spectacular backyard pool. She said that's the one I want! After our round of golf, we went and knocked on these stranger's door to inquire who built thier pool. We were welcomed in and given the tour.
Jim and I weren't real close and afterwards would only run into each other a few times a year at the golf course or the airport. But everytime we did, we shared some wonderful conversations and stories. He truley seemed to be a genuine and caring person that I was looking forward to knowing better. 
My condolences and prayers go out to his family, his friends, and everyone who never had the pleasure of meeting Jim.

Jim made such a huge impact in my life and for that I am forever grateful. In such a short time I came to know him as a leader, neighbor and friend. I admired his love for his family and for his ability to make you feel like family. He was amazing at so many things but most of all his generosity, he always wanted to take care of everyone. His presence will be greatly missed. 

Jim renewed my love of fly fishing, gave me faith in the oilfield where a handshake means a deals a deal, offered me encouragement  and advice in my career and showed me what it was like to be passionate about work.  I will miss him dearly as a mentor and a friend.

Jim was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, uncle,  Father-in-law, son in law, friend, partner, and Poppy.  He was so many things to so many people. Jim, was kind, generous, loving, caring and thoughtful of others.  I will miss your quick wit, words of advise, mentoring and life support.  Jim has made such an impact on my life, he truly changed me for the better.  I love you and miss you friend.
