Howard "Chico" Chambers

Howard grew up in Harvington, KY. He was educated in the Kentucky Public School System. He later relocated to Chattanooga with his parents and siblings. As a young man, he set roots and he began working. He worked several jobs in career fields. His favorite positions were with the Chattanooga Funeral Home and the Southern Belle Riverboat. He retired from the Chattanooga Funeral Home, West Chapel, McCallie Avenue after 30 years of service as a funeral director assistant. He was a member of the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he worked with the Boys Scouts Program.

Howard wed India Pearl Polite in 1964 and they were happily married for 64 years until his passing. To this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Grace Walker Chambers and Charles H. Chambers and two sisters; Bobbie Daniel and Tillie Lane.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife; Mrs. India P. Chambers; dedicated children, son, Anthony (Melody) Chambers, two daughters, Antoinette Green, India Jackie (Lenme) Houser, all of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Barron (Shelley) Chambers, Antonio Chambers, India E. Green; three great- grandchildren Jarvis Chambers, Nokia Chambers, Cametre Chambers, one great grandson, Andrew, Jr.; five godchildren, Ginger Cope, Gerald Perry, Kelvin Scott, George Scott, Sandra Fairbanks; devoted brother, Gale (Betty) Chambers; sister, Glydon Wilson, Dayton, OH; devoted cousin, Glen (Sara) Chambers, two brothers-in-law, Andrew Milton, Ronald Milton, a host of beloved relatives and many friends.

The family will received friends on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 12-2 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin Strickland Chapel.

Funeral services for Mr. Chambers will be conducted at 2 pm, on Sunday, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Samuel Jackson officiating

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens- East on Monday at 1 pm .
