Charlie Gilley

He was born in Grove Oak, Alabama to the late Walter and Vera Gilley. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggie Gilley; brothers, Harold and Robert Gilley and nephew, Kevin.

When he was young, Charlie joined the Air Force. After four years of service, he would later go on to serve in the Georgia Air National Guard and then the Mississippi Air National Guard, where he would retire. After 30 years of service, Charlie went on to be an Aircraft Mechanic for Krystal Aviation in Chattanooga and then later for TPT Aviation in North Carolina. He loved going on camping trips and being with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Charlie was a member of Tyner United Methodist. He loved the Lord and was faithful in his tithe to the very end.

Survivors include his children, Chuck Gilley (Darlene), Kristie Gilley; grandson, Chad Gilley (Sarah); sister, Jane Ramsey; nieces, Susan, Pat, Debbie, Regina; nephews, Kent, Kirk and many other friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A graveside service for Charlie will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404 with Pastor Kenneth McElhaney officiating.
