He was a resident of Chattanooga for 69 years where he worked as a railroad officer at Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 25 years. Charles was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Christian Family House Church.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Day; daughter, Teresa Day; and parents, Nicholas and Margaret Day.
Survivors include sister, Sandra Wheeler of Roswell, GA; son, Charles "Chuck" Day Jr. of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Krystal (Jon Mason) Channell of Quebeck, TN, Ann (Duane) Apple of Carthage, TN, Teresa Day of Tuskegee, AL, Tommy (Samantha) Crowder of Rossville, GA, and Jimmy (Audrey) Crowder of Chatsworth, GA; and great-grandchildren, Shelby (RJ) Strong, Sydney Ratledge, Bryce Channell, Xander Ratledge, Dillion Crowder, an Carson Crowder.
A visitation for Charles will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Franklin-Strickland Chapel, 1724 Mccallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
