Paul Donald Lafrance

CHATHAM: Paul D. Lafrance, 82, of Chatham formerly of Manchester, CT died peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was born in Killingly, CT on March 23, 1931. Paul was the son of the late Joseph Napolean & Flora (Duhamel)Lafrance. He was the loving husband of the late Marie (Sperduti) Lafrance who passed away in 2001. Paul and Marie had been married 45 years. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Donald J. Lafrance. Paul is survived by his son & his wife Wayne & Mary Lafrance of Brewster, and his daughter Audrey Lafrance Greenway of Harwich. He leaves two grandchildren, Tony Greeley of Chatham, and Danielle Greeley of Harwich along with his beloved great granddaughter Scarlett Maria Roberts and her father, Brandon Roberts, of Harwich. Also mourning his loss is his former son-in-law Larry Greeley of Brewster. Paul is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Paul and Marie moved their family to Cape Cod in 1969 from Manchester, Ct. It was a move that would prove to be very rewarding. Paul loved being on the water, fishing with his son Wayne, quahogging with his buddies on the flats, and clamming with his family on Monomoy Island many a summer Sunday. One of his favorite past times was dancing the night away every Saturday evening for 45 years with his beautiful Marie. From the Christopher Ryder House, to Chatham Bars Inn, to the Wayside Inn and many places in-between .

As Master Carpenters, Paul and his son Wayne owned and operated Lafrance Construction for 25 years. In his retirement Paul enjoyed his memberships at the VFW in Chatham and Willy’s Gym in Orleans. You could set your clock by Paul’s three hour a day work-outs. In addition, he was an avid gardener, movie aficionado, and loved his rock and roll music. One of Paul’s proudest moments was when he chose to skydive over Chatham for his 80th birthday with his daughter Audrey. One of Paul’s greatest achievements was becoming sober at 72 years old and never looking back; a feat that his family and friends proudly admired.

A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave., Chatham, MA at 11 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013. A private burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life at a reception immediately following the service at Vining’s Bistro, 595 Main Street, Chatham, MA.
