Brandon James Coonrod

Brandon Coonrod, 25, went to be with his heavenly Father on August 9, 2024. He was born in Springfield, Illinois, to Gina and David Coonrod on August 27, 1998. He was a faithful follower of God, loving brother and friend, and beloved son.

He was an Eagle Scout, a member of Chatham Baptist Church, a participant in Boys State, and lover of the band, Twenty One Pilots. He was incredibly intelligent and always had a passion for following the Lord and seeking after God no matter the circumstances. He had a passion for Christian politics and changing the world for the better. His time may have been cut short, but his impact was strong.

Brandon was deeply loved by his family and is survived by his parents, David and Gina Coonrod, and siblings, Derrick and Lyndsey Coonrod. He is also survived by his grandparents, Denton and Marjorie Coonrod, and Lorraine Griffiths, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Frederick Griffiths, III.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Butler Funeral Homes-Chatham, 8855 IL Rt 4, Chatham.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Chatham Baptist Church, 1500 E. Walnut Street, Chatham, with Rev. Milton Bost, officiating. Coonrod Airsmen-Hires Funeral Home is assisting the family with the celebration of life.

Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
