Annabell was born August 29, 1940, in Athens, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Edna Mae Forden Yoakum. She married Clifford G. Smith on March 16, 1962; he preceded her in death on May 2, 2010.
Annabell graduated from Athens High School and was employed as a phlebotomist with St. John's Hospital. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and assisted at the food banks in Chatham.
Annabell enjoyed taking her grandchildren to garage sales, fishing, working on the farm when she was younger, playing cards, loved ducks and peacocks, and was an avid Bingo player.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Crystal Ann Smith; step-daughter, Valerie K. Martin; daughters-in-law, Rebecca Smith and Lori Smith; sons-in-law, Mark Eskew and Joe Mercer; siblings, Jasper Yoakum, Bernice Ward, Winifred Porter, and Dorothy Hamilton; and her beloved dog, Theodore "Teddy".
Annabell is survived by her sons, Ronald Smith of Springfield and Clifford Smith, II of Swansboro, NC; daughters, Tamatha Mercer of Springfield, Connie Eskew of Pana, IL, and Janice Schappert of Dallas, TX; step-daughter, Evelyn Watson of Tower Hill, IL; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Celebrant Parian Hull officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
