Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Herring, age 76, of Ruckersville, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015, at his daughter’s home. Born on July 11, 1939, in Charlottesville, he was a son of the late Willie B. and Edith Marsh Herring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Charlotte Ann, who died in infancy, and Joyce Marie Hall. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tonya Lanford and her husband, Mike; grandsons, Kevin Sullivan and his girlfriend, Amy Garrison, and Travis Dean; brothers, Ollie B. Herring and his wife, Barbara, and Ronnie Herring and his late wife, June; and his sister, Phyllis Caldwell and her late husband, Donnie. Tommy is also survived by a host of loving friends and relatives. Tommy worked for the City of Charlottesville transit for over 20 years before working for Albemarle County school bus system. Tommy also worked for Teague Funeral Service in his younger years. He enjoyed fishing, cars – which he had owned plenty of, and spending time with his family who he loved very much. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Holly Memorial Gardens with Mr. Lindsay Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, September 21, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Teague Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered to the family at teaguefuneralhome.com.
