She was born November 3, 1947, to the late James S. Morris and Ruth E. Walton.
Shirley retired from UVA Hospital after 50 years of service. She was loved by her large family, friends, and coworkers. Shirley loved to travel, dance, and spend time with her family and friends. She loved her church and attending church events. She was very creative and loved to decorate. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she was known for her beautiful trees. Shirley was a very generous person and was the rock for her mother and her sisters.
Survivors include her two children; James Ballard and his wife Janet, Sandra Shifflett; four sisters; Gail Morris and her husband Allen, Carolyn Morris and her husband Gary, Shelby Davis, Kimberly Nash, and significant other Stanley; four grandchildren Robert Shifflett and wife Devon, Samantha Shifflett, Morgan Ballard, and Madelyn Ballard. Four great-grandchildren Parker, Skylar, Landon, and Madison. A special great nephew, Colton Shifflett.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her two brothers James Sherwood Morris Jr, and Ronnie Walton.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm-8 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Nortonsville Church of God
1505 Simmons Gap Road, Dyke, VA 22935.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Nortonsville Church of God with Pastor Greg Payne presiding. Interment will be followed in the Prize Hill Cemetery, Boonesville, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Breast Care Center of Charlottesville, the Emily Couric Cancer Center and/or the Nortonsville Church of God.
