Ruth Elane Morris

Ruth native to Greene County was born on July 16, 1928 to the late Delmar Walton and Yettie Walton.

Ruth retired from Crouse Hinds after 25+ years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, Ruth loved spending time playing cards, outside sitting in her swing, puzzle books, going out to eat with her family and she enjoyed having her great grandsons Colton and Jace with her daily. She also enjoyed spending time with her special nieces Barbara Gibson and Jackie Morris.

Survivors include her five children, Shirley Naylor, Gail Morris and her husband, Allen, Carolyn Morris and her husband, Gary, Shelby Davis, Kimberly Nash and her significant other, Stanley; eight grandchildren, Andy Ballard, Sandra Shifflett, Mike Morris, Brad Courtney, Chris Nash, Jessica Davis, Tommy Nash, and Tracy Foster who made her home with her grandparents; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Sherwood Morris; her two sons, James Sherwood Morris, Jr. and Ronnie Walton; her sister, Maude Fenner; her two brothers, James Walton and Delmar Walton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Prize Hill Church with Pastor Greg Payne presiding. Interment will immediately follow in the Prize Hill Cemetery.
