Robert Lee Frazier, 81, of Scottsville, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was born on May 2, 1942, in Scottsville, a son of the late Noah and Sidney (Crawford) Frazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George and William Frazier; and four sisters, Viola Wright, Polly Geer, Bessie Shifflett and Lissie Walker.
In his younger days, Robert, or known to some as “Bob,” could be found at the local Moose Lodge burning up the dance floor. He loved to dance the night away with his wife Sandy. He often joked that no one could out dance or keep up with him. He retired from the former H.T. Ferron in Charlottesville, where he earned the name “Truck Doc.” He was a talented mechanic who could figure out an issue like no other.
If you knew “Doc,” you know all about his love of dirt track racing. His typical day began with coffee at one of his local spots catching up with the guys. He could talk about racing for hours and it truly was what made him happy. He tried to pass his love of racing on to all who knew him, especially his baby boy. As an avid racer, his true love was traveling to local tracks to spin some dirt. He was happiest working in his shop and seeing his son race.
Survivors include his wife of over 45 years, Sandra Frazier, and four children: their two sons: Robert Frazier Jr. and wife Rebecca of Stanardsville, David Frazier and wife Stephanie of Palmyra, and two daughters from a previous marriage, Margaret Frazier of Scottsville, and Susan Morris and husband Sam, also from Scottsville; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted at Teague on Thursday at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
