Purnell James Johnson Jr.

On Monday, August 21, 2023, Purnell James (“Jamie”) Johnson, Jr. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. After five daughters, the prayer was for the sixth child to be a boy. The Lord heard our parents’ prayers and granted their petition, and on April 18, 1966 Jamie was born. Jamie is survived by his father Purnell Johnson, Sr. and his mother Joyce Scott Johnson. His sisters Deborah Johnson of Spotsylvania, VA, Brenda (Nathaniel) Feggans of Charlottesville, VA, Dorothy Jordan of North Garden, VA, Felicia Johnson of Spotsylvania, VA, and LaDonna (Jeffrey) Louderback of Esmont, VA. Jamie leaves to cherish his memory his nieces and nephews Kevin Jordan (Garrett), Erika Johnson (Enasia and Arriana), Leslie Jordan (Preston), Ashly Louderback (Ashton and Jayden), Jeffrey and Demetris Louderback, Jr. (Jeremiah), Kenneth Johnson, Justin Johnson, and Kara Johnson; his best friend and cousin/brother Troy Johnson, and his Uncle and Aunt, William and Mary Johnson, and many other beloved relatives and many dear friends. He will be truly missed by his little buddy Rufus. Visitation for Jamie will be on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at South Garden Baptist Church, 3562 Plank Road, North Garden, VA 22959. Funeral Services for Jamie will be at 1:00 p.m., followed by Interment in the Church Cemetery.
