Jayson “Jay” Smith, 17, of Zion Crossroads, went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2018. Jayson was born on May 15, 2000, in Charlottesville, VA to Jason and Kerry Smith. Jayson attended Louisa County High School as a senior with plans to graduate this spring. He had dreams of going to UVA to be a dentist. He was to attend PVCC this fall to begin the journey to achieve his goals. Jayson was full of love and appreciation for all of the beauty in life. He had an inner light that shined bright when you looked into his beautiful eyes. He held so much love for his family and friends in his heart. Jayson had a way of always making you smile. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed having them around him. Jayson was very close with his grandparents, Nanny Pam, Papa Warren, and Grandma Bonnie. They meant the world to him, he enjoyed every second he was able to be with them. Jay loved spending time with his cousins Destiny, Malique, Olivia, Addison, Travis, Kiersten, Brandon, and Bryce. He had a very special love for his Grandma Betty and Nanny Shirley, they meant so very much to him. Jayson enjoyed spending time with his very close and special friends Claire Woods, Owen Ferguson, and Jesse Martin. He valued their friendship greatly. There are so many friends that may not be mentioned but he treasured every moment with each of you. He loved playing basketball, riding his skateboard, eating spicy nacho Doritos, going to Five Guys to grab a burger, taking pictures, going to the beach, watching sunrises and sunsets. Jayson loved to write poems and music lyrics, he enjoyed listening to all types of music. He appreciated nature and really loved being outside. He would sit on the front porch swing and watch the rain, he could see the beauty in everything. Jayson is a gentle, pure, kind, loving, thoughtful, selfless, beautiful soul. He was and will always be our most precious gift. There are many wonderful memories of so many others that may not be listed but he loved so much. Jayson is united in heaven with his beloved family members: great-grandfathers Printes “Buck” Rogers and Charles Eugene Leake; great-grandmother Mildred G. Smith; and grandfather Ronald Carr Smith. In addition to his parents, Jayson is survived by his grandmother, Pamela Leake Yowell and her husband Todd Yowell; grandparents Bonnie and Warren Tomlin; great-grandmothers Betty Francis Rogers and Shirley Birckhead Leake; aunt Sherry Yvonne Payne and her significant other, Steven Breeden; and cousins Destiny Payne, Malique Gross, Olivia Payne, and Addison Breeden.
