Donald Wayne Lawhorne

Donald W. Lawhorne (Wayne) passed away suddenly at UVA Hospital on February 20th, 2023 at the age of 52. Born in Charlottesville, VA on September 14th, 1970. He was preceded in death by his father Donnie Lawhorne, maternal grandparents Cecil and Margaret Brogan, paternal grandparents Opal and Toby Lawhorne, and mother-in-law Nancy Shifflett. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Rhonda Lawhorne, his daughter Elizabeth, along with his mother, Dianne Davis (Ron), father-in-law Roy Shifflett, in addition an abundance of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and legacy of young athletes. His boundless deep love for the game of softball was shared by his passion through coaching a host of families and young athletes for close to 20 years through recreational and travel teams. The Shockwave families were an extended family that will forever hear the sound of Coach Wayne’s heartwarming laugh on the field and in the dugout. Wayne was employed for 28 years at T&N Printing in Charlottesville, VA. His coworkers and customers are lifelong friends. Life is but a stopping place. Remember the best times, the laughter, and the songs. Wayne loved the songs. The family will have a celebration of life Sunday, February 26th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Free Union Church of the Brethren with a meal directly following in the Fellowship Hall
