Teague Funeral Service
Cynthia D. Derrico went to the Lord peacefully at her home in Charlottesville, surrounded by her loving family on January 13, 2019 after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.
Cindy was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia where she attended Lane High School and the University of Virginia Nursing School. She was a dedicated nurse for almost 50 years. Her passion was helping people and spending time with her family. She very much loved her husband of 30 years who left this world too soon. Her four boys meant everything to her and more. She was so proud and so loved her three daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren. The boys would like to thank their Aunt Kim and Uncle Stoney who both played a huge part in caring for Mom during this journey and showed her a love that goes beyond words. The boys would also like to thank their incredible wives who cared for Mom as if she was their very own mother.
Cindy was predeceased in death by her husband, Joseph A Derrico Jr. Esq.
She is survived by her son Joseph A. Derrico III, his wife Susanne and their four children Samantha, Joseph Campbell and Wyatt; her son Brian M. Derrico, his wife Shannon and their two children Julia and Mason; her son Justin C. Derrico, his wife Clare and their daughter Indiana; and her son Scott A. Derrico. She is also survived by two sisters, Kim and Leslie; and a brother, Chip.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
