Barbara F. Gibson, 79, departed her earthly home for a heavenly home on February 26, 2021. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of over 57 years, Charles Bernard “Bernie” Gibson and was preceded in death by her only child, Charles LeRoss “Ross” Gibson, and survived by Ross’ wife, Dawn West and grand-dog, Bella. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Kaleigh R. Gibson, Meagan G. Jernigan (husband Hunter, great grandkids Henry & Libby) and Katie L. Gibson. Barbara was affectionately known to family and close friends as “Cookie” and to many social friends simply as “Barb”.
Barbara was born on August 19, 1941, the daughter of William H. “Ham” & Violet W. Faulconer. She is survived by her brother Robert G. “Bobby” Faulconer and wife Jackie. Preceding her in death were her brothers Charles E. Faulconer (wife Dorothy), G. Harold Faulconer (wife Anne Meade) and William H. Faulconer and his wife Ethel.
Barbara’s greatest passion was a deep love for family. Her unconditional love for her husband and son were living testimonies to that love. Barbara shared a special bond with her 4 brothers and their families. She so enjoyed spending time with them and being together at family gatherings. Barbara cared deeply for her nieces, Renee Lamb, Jill Quillen, Amy Lamb, Carol Faulconer, Marty Gray, Brenda Watts and her nephews, Gary Faulconer and Jonathan Faulconer as well as their spouses and families.
Those that knew her well recognized she was a person of high moral character and a Christian. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with her “tennis friends”. Barbara and Bernie loved to travel and enjoyed many unique adventures together including dog sledding, snowmobiling, boat excursion, ski trips, etc.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911 with the Reverend Connie Clark officiating. Holly Memorial Gardens does ask that all attendees please wear a face mask to comply with Covid safety guidelines. Teague Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
