Mrs. Conn, 101, of Charlotte, passed away on March 23, 2013, at Avante Nursing Home of Charlotte, N.C. She was born on March 15, 1912, in Nottingham, England, the only child of Gertrude Bullock and William Perry, and emigrated to the U.S. with her family right after World War I.
Mrs. Conn loved ballet all her life, and performed on stage as a young woman. She and her future husband sang on the radio in Boston. She loved animals, flowers, the beauty of summer trees, and her beloved family. She was quiet, sweet and patient at all times, a cheerful and loving presence in everyone’s life.
In 1978 she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Edward L. Conn, Jr., a veteran of WWII. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Leonard P. Wengstrom; three grandchildren: Eric Wengstrom of Prince George, VA; Kirsten Frysinger of Superior, CO; and Clara Gonzalez of Radcliff, KY; seven great-grandchildren: Paul Dustin, Jennifer Boone, Sara Wengstrom, Brittany and Victoria Frysinger and Mason and Anna Gonzalez; and three great-great-grandchildren: Landon Dustin and Bryce and Harper Boone.
