Born in Gaston County on January 23, 1945, he was the son of the late Inez Brown Tallent and retired from Carolina Paper Board as a machinery mechanic.
His wife, Margaret Marie Tallent and a son, Richard Earl Tallent preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Ann Minnick and husband, Samuel, William B. Tallent Jr. and wife, Debra, Debra Jones, Donna Small and husband, Linwood and Boyce Allen Tallent; 11 grandchildren, Michael Tallent, William Jay Hasley, Christopher Lee Hasley, James Dean Tallent, Amaya R. Tallent, Boyce A. Tallent Jr., Jennifer Carter, Joshua Jones, Diamond N. Small, Destiny Smothers and Christian Tallent; 2 great grandchildren, Love Marie Carter, Codi John Carter and Zachary Tallent; 1 great-great grandson, Noah A. Leach and a brother, Bobby Tallent.
Funeral services are planned for 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262 with Rev. Cheryl Skinner officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
