He is survived by his loving wife, Diann McGuirt, his children, Brad (wife Christy) and Regan (wife Stacie), and his grandchildren; Carson, Kate, Claire, Brady and Coen.
Not only was Bill a proud husband, father and grandfather, he was also a very proud and patriotic American who served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was devoted to his church family at Albermarle Road Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully served for over 46 years. Bill loved without reserve and gave of himself without hesitation.
After forty-plus years as a successful Insurance and Financial Planning Advisor, his family forced him into retirement as they literally moved his desk out of his office as he was still working. During this time, Bill enjoyed all the benefits retirement had to offer.
Bill was a lover of shoes, gum and Chapstick. He loved planting and gardening and always had the very best planters. Home Depot visits were a favorite as well. Bill took both piano and guitar lessons for years, but could only manage to strum a few chords and hit a few keys. He was definitely a music lover, although better at listening than playing. He had a love for animals (especially cats, but was never allowed to own any). He enjoyed his granddog babies and babysat them at any opportunity.
Every Christmas Bill would get his daughters-in-law really good bottles of wine...he would run out on Christmas Eve to get them wrapped. Bill only shopped on Christmas Eve. This got on Grammy's nerves, but they were always the best gifts. He loved old cars and going to car shows. Bill loved the beach, but hated sunscreen with a passion. He loved a cold beer or a good glass of wine, and he loved to eat slow and savor every bite, while appreciating good music.
Bill is the son of the late William Lee & Amelia Janette McGuirt.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Sunday, October 16th at 2:00pm at Albermarle Road Presbyterian Church 6740 Albemarle Rd Charlotte, NC 28212. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Bill will be laid to rest with military honors at Suncrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.
