William Henry Harkey

William Henry Harkey (Pete) age 91 passed from tis life on September 18, 2015. Pete was born December 18, 1923 to the late Henry and Prudence Harkey , in Rock Hill SC. He attended and graduated from Thomasboro High School in Charlotte NC. Pete enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and worked for and retired from Southern Bell. Pete was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and member Assurance UMC and was also a member of American Legion Post 353, Paw Creek

In addition to his parents Pete was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Kelly, sisters Henrietta Craig and Magdalene Agthe ,Georgia Wallace, WEncie Alexander, and Inez Alexander and a brothers Vern Tadlock, D.R. Tadlock and Leroy Tadlock . Left to Cherish the memories of his life are his wife of 65 years Lou Harkey, son Alan Harkey and wife Brenda, Son in Law Kevin Kelly, grandchildren Krystal Greer and husband Josh, Jack Harkey and wife Brittany, Amber Crum and husband Jason, and Jeff Harkey, great-grandchildren; Kaylie Plummer, Jaycie Plummer, Sarah Greer, and Lianna Harkey.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Assurance UMC 9700 Mt. Holly- Huntersville Road Huntersville, at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
