Bill was born January 13, 1919 in Newell, NC, a son of the late Samuel and Agnes Stafford Cochran.
A veteran of WWII, Bill obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant with the US Army. He was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson, NC, a member of the American Legion, an avid Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed gardening and carpentry work.
A carpet and drapery installer, Bill retired form Mecklenburg Furniture Shops after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine “Jo” Cochran in November of 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Reynolds of Kannapolis, NC, two sons, David Cochran and Steve Cochran and his wife, Susie all of Charlotte, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and special friend, Pat Ross.
Also preceding him death were his siblings, Lucille Harris, Lloyd Cochran, Samuel “SE” Cochran, James Cochran and Junius Cochran.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saturn Rehab and Nursing Facility and all the home caregivers.
Funeral services are planned for 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC with Sammy Pierce officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
Burial will take place in Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in memory of William “Bill” Cochran be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 18841 Davidson Concord Road, Davidson, NC 28036.
