William Robert Allen

William (Bill) Robert Allen, age 88 of Charlotte passed away November 10, 2013 at his residence. A service to celebrate his life will be at 3:00PM Wednesday, November 13th at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Reverends Billy Towery and Phil Turner officiating. Visitation will be one hour (2:00-3:00PM) prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.

Mr. Allen was born in Mecklenburg County April 28, 1925 son of the late Claude Murphy and Mary Estridge Allen. He was a member of Pleasant Grove UMC, Madeline Tyson Covenant Sunday School Class, graduate of Sharon High School, graduate of Louisburg College, served in the US Navy during WWII, 60 year member of Charles M. Setzer Masonic Lodge #693, Scottish Rite Bodies, Oasis Temple of the Shrine, member of the Patrol Unit of the Shrine, member of the Royal Order of Jesters and was the second generation owner of C. M. Allen Construction Company.

Surviving are his wife, Betty F. Allen, children, William Allen, Jr. and Charles Allen (Janet) all of Charlotte, and Sharyn Darden (Frank) of Denver, NC, step-children, Vanessa Easler (Jack) of Lowesville, NC, and Trena McClure (Ray) of Denver, NC, grandchildren, Jordan Shea, Chase Allen, Tina Pope, Jeremiah Shelton, Dustin McClure, and Jennifer Costanzo, ten great grandchildren and two nieces. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Honorary will be Oasis Patrol and members of the Madeline Tyson Covenant Sunday School Class.
