Born June 12, 1961 in Gastonia, she was a daughter of Jean Goins Hargett and the late Erskine Rhodes. She was a graduate of New Bern High School, and furthered her education by attending Western Carolina University for two years.
T.J. was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and enjoyed water sports, traveling, and horseback riding, as well as family vacations and church events.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Clowney; her mother and step-father, Jean and Chuck Hargett of Rock Hill, SC; her sister, Treba Stacy of Charlotte; four step-sisters; and one step-brother.
A service to celebrate T.J.’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26th at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Her family will receive friends at the church following the service.
