Tom H. Carter

Tom H. Carter, son of the late Camilla Carter and Robert Collins, was born October 26, 1941 in York County SC and he was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Universal Healthcare of Ramseur. He was the husband of the late Christine L. Carter for over 40 years until her passing in June of 2008. To their union, five children were born.

Tom dedicated over 30 years of service to local truck driving, delivering lumber and supplies in the Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas. He was also a faithful servant of the Lord at the Church of Christ until he was no longer able to attend due to illness; he even earned the nickname "Iceman" from his church family.

He loved bargain shopping at flea markets and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved listening and dancing to music.

In addition to his wife and parents, Tom was preceded in death by his three sisters, Pauline Gilmore, Bessie Cooper and Daisey Shealey; four brothers, William Jones Sr., Rob Collins, Bob Collins and Samuel Collins.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, five children, Crystal Y. Carter, Linda A. Carter, Dione Carter, Sonya B. Carter and Latonya E. Carter; three grandchildren, Dezmond J. Smith, Taliaya A. Smith and Jazmine D. Smith; one sister, Mamie McCormick; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lovely friends.

A visitation for Tom will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Church of Christ, 4530 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
