Mr. Thomas Josephus Peele Jr., lovingly called Little Tommie, was born August 14, 1948 in Williamston, North Carolina and departed this life on August 9, 2017 in Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Tommie grew up in Williamston, NC with his grandparents, Mr.& Mrs. Nathaniel & Sallie Rodgers. He later moved to New Jersey with his parents and other siblings.
Tommie attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. His career began at Carolinas Medical Center in the early 1970s through 1982. He then began working at Presbyterian Orthopedic until his retirement in 2010.
Tommie had a passion for cars, horses, and learning the newest technological gadgets. He never met a stranger and everyone loved his friendly personality.
Tommie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Rodgers; parents, Mr.& Mrs. Thomas & Ida Rodgers Peele; two brothers, Calvin (Glenise) and Tony Peele; two uncles, Clarence Rodgers and Henry Peele; and one aunt, Verna Moore.
Tommie was united in marriage on March 21, 1981 to Mrs. Vanessa Dalton Peele, who survives. In addition to his wife, Tommie leaves to cherish the memory of his life, three sisters, Kathy (Merrick) Harris, Sheryldina Peele, and Thomasina Peele; two brothers, Barry Peele and Eric (Lori) Peele; two special cousins, Betty Holloway and Mary (John) Sweat; one sister-in-law, Carol Peele; two uncles, Jonah (Lerona) Rodgers and Napoleon (Shirley) Rodgers Jr.; three aunts, Marion Rodgers, Doretha Rodgers, and Helen Peele; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Dorothy Knauer.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 13, 2017 with Rev. Jeffrey Miller officiating at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services.
Burial will take place in the cemetery at First Baptist Church of Harmony, NC.
