She was known to friends and family for her acts of care and concern, her wry humor, and her talent for appreciating life. She is survived by her husband Ron, her son Matthew, sisters Barbara Miller and Shirley Joyner, brother John R. Banks, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sharon attended Oakhurst Elementary School, Randolph Middle School, and West Charlotte High School. Later, she attended Central Piedmont Community College before eventually graduating summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a bachelor's degree in English.
Sharon was a writer, a thinker, and an adventurer. At age 16, she traveled the United States by bus, making the trip from Charlotte to Seattle and back. Later, she sailed the Caribbean as the first mate of a small yacht. She lived in Miami and Connecticut, but ultimately settled in Charlotte to be with her family. She was good at giving advice, helping her husband to build a successful family business.
A private celebration has been held in her honor. She will be sorely missed.
