So sorry to hear about Dr Kremers. I knew him from Presbyterian from 1997- 2000. I always thought he was a genius. It  was a n honor to know him.

 I just found out about Dr. Kremers passing.Began working with Dr. Kremers back in the day. He totally modernized our ICU, (1980-1986)introducing new medications and techniques and most of all taking the patience to teach and explain to the nurses. We could always bring out his patient side, by just asking a question and he was always willing to help us understand the why. I am no longer at the bedside, but can still interpret an ABG, just like he taught me. Rest in peace my mentor and friend. All those middle of the night calls… you were our hero! There will never be another one like you. Thank you for my 30 plus years love of pulmonary medicine!

Sorry to hear of Dr. Kramers' passing.  I worked with him in the MICU at Mercy for a number of years.  He was always willing to help me better understand a clinical scenario and I enjoyed taking care of his patients there.  I remember that if he was ever in a mood, all I had to do to get him smiling and in a better mood was to ask him about his daughter.  I never met her but know she was his pride and joy!
I lost touch with Dr. Kramers after his retirement and the next phase of my professional life but remember him fondly.  My condolences to the family and healthcare community for the loss of a great man.

Dearest Pat and Kate, 
I was surprised and shocked to hear of Scott’s passing. The last time I saw Pat and Scott was when we were picking up baseball season tickets several years ago. It was so good to run into you both! You both seemed to blossom in retirement! My time spent working with Scott in the office 87-89 was educational, fun, intense at times, but such a good experience. I met him as a new ICU nurse in 1983. He was a brilliant intensive care doctor taking care of the most complicated and sick patients that we had. He took care of all the patient’s needs and wrote pages of orders that truly encompassed the whole individual. Every patient was a research project when he was involved! In the office, again, he had a specific plan for each patient. He was one of a kind! My heartfelt condolences to Pat and Kate and be comforted by the fact that he was loved by many including colleagues, friends, family, and patients. Martha Carlisle 💜

I am so sorry for your loss as I know this is a loss felt deeply. I am so fortunate to have gotten to spend time with Dr. Kremers over the last year. He liked to joke with me that “I had to come to his funeral since I stopped him from having one the first time.”  I will never forget the stages of marriage and the lawyer and doctor on a plane joke (you know the kind he likes to tell, give me the scare of MY life and then come back and finish the joke). He always loved making everyone around him smile and was there to lend advice whenever asked. I hope his Carolina Reaper peppers are thriving. I am thinking about you all.

Dear Pat, and Family,

     I was so sorry to hear your husband had passed away.  While I had not met him, I can see from others' comments, that he was a remarkable and compassionate man.  I can't imagine the loss you feel, but I pray that Scott is feeling  peace and comfort in the arms of the Holy Family in heaven, just as he gave peace and comfort to his patients in need.  You all will be in my prayers for the same.




What a genuine person. You will be truly missed. This was one of the fun moments spent just being us. Thank you for the memories and good times. Thank you for being a friend. Pat and Kate you have my deepest sympathy and prayers. Love you both.

I was shocked & deeply saddened to see Scott's obit. We knew each other since 1987 CCU Mercy Hospital. He became my Preceptor for my Pulmonary ACNP in 1995 for USC.  He had a gift for medicine. His brilliance & common sense is rarely utilized today. I have been caring for patients with him spending TWO hrs. as critical care providers caring for patients' numerous, critical needs. He gave his ALL in these situations. He was NEVER afraid of hurting another MD's ego by altering their orders; performing correct procedures as he saw patients circling the drain. We ARE truly lost without a marvelous, brilliant critical care hospitalist and pulmonologist. Often, I could call him for a "hallway consult" & it was always on spot.He was never angered or cut me short. I feel fortunate for the time I had for his teachable moments & recognizing who he wanted caring for his patients in the ICU/CCU. He never hesitated to write orders stating which nurses were to care for HIS patients. Knowledge, Care, Compassion, & Accuracy were absolutes for those caring for his patients. My regret, is that we do not have MD's like this NOW. He has long been missed since 2010 by those of us that admire & appreciate his wisdom, brilliance, humor, & kindness. He cared for my father for years until retirement (the only person that got Daddy to quit smoking). Then, I caught & cared for Daddy thru NSCLC (2012-2020). I am forever grateful to a true professor, teacher,and healer.  LOOK AT THE PATIENT FIRST & ALWAYS. IT IS A GIFT VERY FEW ARE GIVEN. KATHY JONES, ACNP-BC

it's been years since our happy St Patrick's days,.... but how fondly I remember you,  Scott and Kate.  Your photo of Scott captures him so perfectly... his warmth and kindness. What a lovely man... my heart dropped with sadness seeing his obituary in the paper for you.  I am truly so so sorry for your loss.

While our paths didn’t often cross over our our careers in medicine, the times that they did were chances to realize who Scott was. As an example, I’ll always remember many years ago caring for a patient in the Mercy ICU. He stayed along side in the treatment process with neither thought of time nor time of day. He was always an aggressive advocate for his patients’ health on all levels. He was one of the best!



My mother was from TerreHaute and Dr Kremers was so kind to her as she was dying with small cell lung cancer. They would talk about Indiana, there was nothing he could do for her, but be kind. And he was SO KIND! I will always appreciate his treatment of her and I have often told people about him. I am sorry for your loss. He was a very great man.
