Sara Holland Steelman

Mrs. Steelman, age 90, of Charlotte passed away Friday, November 23, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital Main.

She was born September 13, 1922 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Wilson Luther Holland and Mamie McCraven Holland. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Steelman.

Mrs. Steelman was a longtime member of Midwood Baptist Church in Charlotte where she was active in the choir and as a deacon. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a Daughter of the Nile and part of the White Shrine. Sara was a deeply devoted and loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald Eugene “Gene” Steelman (Pat) of Harrisburg, NC and Jimmy Mack Steelman of Statesville, NC; daughters, Kathy Steelman Nabors of Denver, CO and Shirley Steelman Snavely (Jerry) of Mint Hill, NC; 10 grandchildren, Lauren, Kelly, Warner, Joel, Dara, Douglas, Jeff, Tana, Tracie and Dwayne; 7 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous other loving family members.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2012 at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
