(nee Moody)
Charlotte - Sandra Hibberd, 63, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at her home in Charlotte, NC. Her warm smile and caring heart will be missed by all those she touched. Sandy made life better for all that knew her.
She was born May 1, 1952 in Schenectady, NY to proud parents, Ross and Antoinette Moody (deceased).
She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years - her high school sweetheart - William J. Hibberd of Charlotte and daughters, Laura Hibberd of Charlotte and Lizzie Hibberd of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; her brother, James J. Moody of Spring Hill, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Kay Moody; niece, Alyssa Moody; nephew, Jeffrey Moody; grand-nephew, Brayden Moody; brother-in-law and wife, Bob and Rosi Hibberd of York, SC; nieces, Melissa and Katie Hibberd; nephew, Joseph Hibberd; step-mother, Marcia Moody; cousins, Bobby Cooper and Paul Czyzewski and their spouses; grand-dogs, Riley, Stella, Ruby, and Bailey; and the many friends she loved like family.
Sandy’s family is proud that she lived her life to the fullest right up until her final moments - planning a vacation that put family first with a great adventure. Her life revolved around doing what was important for the people that she treasured. She was always there with a smile, helping friends at their highest and lowest moments.
Sandy was also a groundbreaker - in 1970 she was a member of the first female class at Siena College in Albany, NY. In turn, she passed along a vision to all of her family and friends not to allow roadblocks to interfere with their dreams.
Sandy was dearly loved. She was a terrific cook, an amazing hostess and entertainer. Bill remembers that Sandy was not a huge football fan - but she produced tailgate spreads at Panthers’ games that were legend. It is difficult to capture with words how Sandy energized the people in her life. She devoted her life to her family and friends, and everyone held a special place in her heart.
Our hearts are heavy right now, but we take comfort in the memory of Sandy’s kind and loving nature.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte. A reception will follow at Sandy's home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way of the Central Carolinas.
