Mrs. Wieler was born September 26, 1934 in Scranton, PA, the daughter of John Mullen and Catherine Murphy Mullen. She grew up in Scranton and graduated from West Scranton High School. Mrs. Wieler began a long career in Human Resources with the Department of Defense in Philadelphia, later moving to the Naval Training Device Center in Sands Point, NY. In 1959 while vacationing with friends in the Pocono Mountains, she met her beloved husband Bob and they were married in 1960. They settled on Long Island and lived a long and happy life together. After raising her four children, Sally resumed her career until she and Bob moved to Charlotte in 1986.
Sally’s greatest joy was her family. She was a dedicated chauffeur, cheerleader, and all-around fan for her children’s athletic and artistic pursuits and enjoyed continuing those supportive roles with her 13 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Jack, Frank, and Leo Mullen; Betty Nolan, Clare Macnew, Kathleen Sullivan, and infants Jean and Alice Mullen.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Robert Wieler; children, Elizabeth Boles and husband Greg of Basking Ridge NJ; Robert Wieler, Jr. and wife Georgia of Alexandria, VA; John Wieler and wife Laurie of Charlotte, NC, and Jennifer Sykes and husband Quintin of Columbia SC; grandchildren Robert III (Erin), George, Hannah, Grace, and Jack Wieler, Carley Sheek, Marshall and Patrick Boles, and Sarah, Anna, Molly, Caroline and Quincy Sykes.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, February 9 at 11:00am in the Chapel at St. Matthew Catholic Church 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway Charlotte, NC 28277. Prayer service and interment will be Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00am at Calvary Cemetery 49-02 Laurel Hill Boulevard Woodside, NY 11377.
