Ruth Petoskey Leffler

Mrs. Leffler, 98, of Charlotte, NC died on March 15, 2012, after a very full and active life. Ruth was born on February 25, 1914 in Detroit MI.

She was a very involved member at Ascension Lutheran Church since 1955. She sang in the Ascension Choir for 20 years, was an officer and member of the Ascension L.W.M.L. St. Monica Circle, former member of the Discipleship Board, played piano for the Charlotte Lutheran School Chapel Services, and delivered Friendship trays.

The surviving members of her family are her son, Dennis and wife, Kay of Charlotte; daughters, Gretchen Pindell and husband, Robert of the Woodlands, TX, and Caren Albright and her husband, James of Columbus, GA. She has seven grandchildren, Andrea Jung, Janice Layne, Linda Gucciardi, Margaret Bowers, Ed Albright, Jeffery Pindell and Catherine Robinson. She also has twenty great-grandchildren, Zackery and Blythe Layne; River, Clyde and Jessie Jung; Sophia, Alaina and Anthony Gucciardi; Alan, Joshua and Caren Bowers; Anna and Jacob Albright; Calib, Abby and Graham Robinson; and Nicholas, Zachary, Jacob and Madeline Pindell. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl in 1986.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff in the Health Care Unit at the Carriage Club for their caring and loving attention, and making mother feel at home throughout her stay.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1225 E. Morehead St., Charlotte NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
