Mrs. Rebecca Louise Crowley

Mrs. Rebecca Crowley, 72 , passed away February 8th after a long battle with cancer. Becky, a lifelong resident of Charlotte, was born September 14, 1942. She attended Western Carolina University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. After Graduating from Western Carolina, Becky returned to Charlotte where she began a long and successful career as an elementary school teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. She was very active in Fidelas at Myers Park Methodist Church

She is proceeded in death by her father, Wilton Baxter Christenbury, her mother Louise Grey Christenbury, her uncle, William Howard Haley and her aunt, Marie Grey Haley.

Becky, is survived by her husband , John Adams Crowley and her sister, Laura Christenbury Brown, both of Charlotte , as well as a large extended family including 11 nieces and nephews.

Becky was known for her big heart , was loved by many and will be missed by all.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Alfred J. Newman, III as well as staff members ; the three Michelles, Casey, Morgan , Sunshine and Jo of Matthews Oncology Associates.

Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Home 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial services will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or a Hospice of your choice .
