Patte Train, 85, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Rochester, NY and North Tonawanda, NY, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on December 20, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. She was born on March 15, 1936, in North Tonawanda, NY, daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Wilson Schenkel.
Patte was a 1953 graduate of North Tonawanda High School in New York and went on to Alfred State College earning her Associate Degree in Medical Office Administration in 1955. Patte began her professional career at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, NY and continued in the medical field at various doctors’ offices in the area. She married Michael A. Train, also of North Tonawanda, on June 14th, 1958, and was a devoted wife and dedicated homemaker to three children whom she loved endlessly. After her children grew, she pursued a fulfilling career through Kelly Services which led her to the 3M Company as an office administrator.
Throughout her life, Patte enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She enjoyed traveling and took numerous trips out west, to the Outer Banks, NC, Las Vegas, NV, Myrtle Beach, SC and Ft. Myers, FL. Several of her favorite pastimes included watching her three children play sports, sewing, cooking, baking, reading, making Braille books for her church, playing cards with friends and family, playing games with her grandchildren, and attending women’s Bible studies. As an avid sports fan, she loved watching her Buffalo Bills and her North Carolina Tarheels. She was a faithful servant of the Lord at Hope Lutheran Church in Rochester, NY where she volunteered for many years for the Vacation Bible School. After moving to North Carolina, Patte continued her service and journey with the Lord at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charlotte while faithfully taking care of her family and friends. Her positive energy, faithful prayers, and endearing love will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Patte is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael A. Train; three children, Peter Train (Leigh Ann Spayd) of Houston, TX, Daniel Train (Sandra Frattare) of Rochester, NY, and Susan Train-Evec (Andrew) of Fort Mill, SC; five grandchildren, Tyler Train (Hilary Wagner), Connor Train, Samantha Train, Stephanie Train, and Chase Evec, along with many lifelong friends in the New York and North Carolina areas.
The service to celebrate and honor her life will be held on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at 1:00 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8300 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277.
The family will be available for visitations before the service at 12:30, or please join the family in the Fellowship Hall of Messiah Lutheran Church immediately following the service for a reception to pay tribute to Patte’s life and legacy.
