Patrick Joseph Devine III, age 73, died on Thursday December 10, 2020 at his residence with his loving wife, Michele and four children by his side. He was preceded in death by his mother Rose Mary McKeown and father Patrick Joseph Devine II, his sister Mary Joan, brother Michael and 4 un-named siblings.
Patrick served honorably in the United States Navy from 1966 ~ 1970. He earned a BA degree from Syracuse University class of 1975. An active man to be around, Patrick loved to ski, golf, woodworking, and had a passion for travel. He always called his family his greatest achievement in life of which he was most proud. Patrick is going to be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish Patrick's memories and carry on his legacy are his loving wife of almost 52 years, Michele Denis Devine, his four children: son Jason and his wife Sharon Devine, and daughters Jennifer Hassing and her husband Jason, Patricia Freeman and her husband Marcus, Janice von Trapp and her husband Ryan, and thirteen grandchildren: Patrick Ryan, Dillon Michael, and Connor Jay Hassing; Jayda Rose and Joseph Maximus Devine; Marcus Brian, Johanna Michele Tizita, Grayson Frank Joseph and Devin Patrick Freeman; Reilly Rose, Reagan Michele, Ryan Harper, and Jude Phillip von Trapp. Also surviving is his devoted sister Helen Jane Kennedy and his brother Robert Devine.
A private viewing for family only will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210. Interment will be at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC. A Celebration of Life event will be held post Covid 19, in the future.
Patrick, a supporter of St. Jude’s Hospital, has always believed no child should ever suffer from cancer and request that donations be made to St Jude’s in lieu of flowers.
