Born August 8, 1930 in Charlotte, she was one of eight children of the late Ross Banks Mayhew and Autilla Belle Miller Mayhew. Pat walked from this earthly life into her new eternal life with God on April 21, 2015. Although we grieve deeply for our loss, we are so grateful for the many years we had with her. Pat never met a stranger and spent her life reaching out to others. Helping others was what she thrived on and many people were blessed to experience that help and love during her lifetime. Her children were taught the love of Jesus Christ from infancy and she lived her life as a constant reminder of how He taught us to live and to love. Pat’s life was truly well lived.
Pat retired from Duke Energy. She worked in corporate communications and started the company’s retirement program. She was a devoted member of Amity Presbyterian Church where she was a former Elder and a leader and planner of the Friendship Club. Pat was a past chairman of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Council on Aging and was a member of the Silver Belles dance troupe.
The memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held 1:30 PM Sunday, April 26th at Amity Presbyterian Church with her grandson, Bob Scott and pastor, Reverend Betsy Williamson, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pam Wolfe (Darrell), and Chuck Campbell (Peggy); step children, Cathy Militante (John), Terry Dorr and Knox Tate (Jane); one sister, Judy Mayhew; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
