Pam and Chuck, I know it has been a very long time, but I still remember going over to your house when we were little and playing while our mothers visited together. Mother(Tooter) considered your mom her very best friend ever. We loved her also. She was such a special lady. Mother was unable to come to the funeral(health issues) but her memories are strong and she speaks of her often. I know one day they will reunite in their heavenly home. There will be lots of laughter, I know.  We extend our deepest sympathy to you and all of your family. I am very moved by the kind words written about my Grandmother. I love reading all about how she touched so many lives. She was and continues to be an inspiration to me and I hope that I can be more like her. Her example of devotion and love was a hard one to follow but I know her wish would be for us all to be a little kinder to each other. I intend to honor her memory by loving more and treating people the way she did. There was never a day in my life that I ever doubted I was loved, because this wonderful woman was in my life. That is the greatest gift she ever gave me and I am eternally grateful.

Pam, I wasn't prepared for your call telling me that your mom was in hospice care and had not recognized anyone for several days.  I was in shock.  And then when you called to let me know she had passed, I was a little better prepared, but so sad.   I know how difficult those calls had to be.  No matter how old we get, it's nice to have mom around.

I can't imagine how different my introduction to Charlotte would have been if I had not met your mom that first day, April 14, 1972.  I arrived in Charlotte, stopped by Duke Power to tell folks I had arrived and would be starting work the following week.  I asked for suggestions of hotels or motels to stay at until I could find an apartment.  Pat said if I didn't mind sharing, I could stay with her.  So I followed her home that evening to the Granville after a stop at your grandfather's (Paw Paw's) for pintos.  I found an apartment near hers and we carpooled to work, worked together in Steam Production, and then had fun in the evenings together.  You are so right, Pat never met a stranger and spent her life reaching out to others. Many people were blessed to experience that help and love during her lifetime.  I know I was.  
And oh the fun we had.  That fun included bridge games; we had pick-up games at the apartment complex I lived in and I was a substitute in her bridge group that she had belonged to since high school; it was tough to play bridge with that group because they had 3 or 4 conversations going at the same time that they were playing bridge.   We even played bridge on our lunch hours quite often at work.   After she met Bill, she played duplicate with him and I played with several different partners.  We often were in the same game.   
She always kept encouraging me to learn to play mahjong, a game she played with Dick and Ruth Dubler and Bill.  
Fun also included dancing.  Pat took dance lessons at the Arthur Murray studio and put those lessons to practice on Wednesday and Friday nights when a group from work would go out dancing.  Later, she went to a couple of dance clubs that you had to be 35 to attend and I was too young to tag along.  Sometimes I snuck in.  We even dated some of the same fellows.  
Pat introduced me to the beach.  She learned to drive a stick shift in my Fiat 850 when I got sun poisoning on one of those trips to the beach and was too sick to drive back to Charlotte.  
Family was important to Pat and that first year we went to Columbia, SC and to Wilmington, NC to visit Pat's sisters and their spouses.  I also got to know her brother and his wife in Charlotte.  Pam, I met you and Bobbie and Kevin.  Chuck, you were living with your dad and I met you both.  I went to a Mayhew family reunion with Pat and enjoyed folks trying to guess which side of the family I was from.  I shared in many of the good times, family weddings, including hers to Bill Tate.  I got regular updates on the family whenever I got together with Pat.  I also shared in some of the sadness, her loss of Bill, her friend Ruth Dubler.  Pat thoroughly enjoyed her 80th birthday party that youall put on.  It was wonderful and I was glad to share in it.  
While Pat was married to Bill, I didn't get to see her as often, but still we did a few things together.  After Bill died, we went to the theater, the Broadway Lights plays and the summer theater at CPCC.  I was disappointed when Pat moved to Denver; mentally, I thought it was good that she would be closer to her family, but emotionally I knew that I wouldn't get to see Pat as often, the trip wasn't that far, but the distance made planning a trip more difficult. And I was dealing with my mom's failing health.   
I am so glad that I got to know your mother and consider her a really good friend.  As I said earlier, I can't imagine what my introduction to Charlotte would have been like if I had not known your mom.  She and I were both going through changes is our lives and we made those transitions together.  She will be missed.

My boys and I have some fond memories of Pat.  She was always so upbeat and loved to know all about others and what they were doing.  You will be greatly miss my dear Pat.  God Bless!  Kristine, Jacob and Trent Noor

I don't know where to start. Gigi was everything to me. She was more then just a great grandmother to me she was also and friend and was always there for me. I hope you are resting well with Jesus. Gigi you are finally home. I love you dearly and will never forget you and all the great memories.

The world is a better place because of this special person.  The instant she walked in a room, there was a special glow and warmth there.  Great not only to her immediate family, but to anyone she got to know.. Most families never get to know the love and laughter the Mayhew's and Miller's were able to enjoy.

I received a call from one of the SilverBelles who told me of Pat's passing.  So sorry for your lost.  I'll always remember her as a SilverBelle. How she loved to dance!

Cousin Patsy was always smiling and I felt so comfortable in her presence.  She lit up every room she entered and warmed many hearts including mine. I loved the way she would say, "Bless her little bones," whenever she referred to her Aunt Maggie--who was my grandmother AKA Othermama.  Patsy, may you R.I.P.--Cousin Diane

One of my favorite first cousins, Patsy (Pat) was such a loving and generous person. And, oh how she loved "Aunt Nina", my mom and her mother's sister. She was so faithful to mom, most especially during the last weeks of her life. If we could all live as Patsy lived, and cared as she cared, the world would be a much better place. Everyone will miss her as she now has joined her family for sure as an angel.

Patsy was one of my favorite cousins.  Fun loving and full of energy, it was always a pleasure to be with Patsy.  Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Pat was the most zany and wonderful neighbor I've ever had.  I enjoyed every minute I spent in her company.  Who remembers "Now I told you all that so I can tell you this....".  Without missing a breath the next story began.  I missed her so much when she moved to Denver.  I miss her so much now.

She will be missed by so many. Her fun personality and kindness will always be remembered.

We will miss our precious Aunt Pat. She was always fun, stylish, and always shared her faith.
