Pamela Rose Smith Allen (77) of Waxhaw, died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at home. She was born July 3, 1947, the daughter of the late Thomas Smith and Margaret Furr Smith. A Charlotte native, Pamela attended Harding High School.
In 1977, Pamela graduated with an Associates in Arts degree from Central Piedmont Community College with an Associates in Arts degree. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1979, and then went on to earn a Master of Education in 1989.
Over the years she was a member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian, Providence Presbyterian, and First Presbyterian Churches.
Pamela was school teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system for 36 years, holding a number of different positions, with her passion teaching students in the English as a Second Language department. After retiring she moved from her home of forty years to start a new life in Waxhaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years, John Robert Allen. She is survived by her son Brian Allen and his wife Kathryn Bishop; sisters Sherry Hill and Jackie Callahan and brothers Thomas Smith and Daryl Smith.
Special thanks to her friends from the Millbridge neighborhood in Waxhaw, the “Steel Magnolias” as they were called. Also special thanks to Dr. Erica Lail and the staff of Providence Animal Hospital for their loving care and attention to her cat Truffles. She loved all animals but especially her cats.
The family will greet friends from 10am until noon on Thursday, August 22,2024 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel located at 10500 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210.
