Nancy Hooks Garrison, 82, of Matthews, passed away on December 26, 2013. She was born on June 28, 1931 in her parent’s home, Babe and Wink Hooks in Matthews, NC. Nancy graduated from Matthews High School in 1949 as the class Valedictorian. She then attended business school for 2 years at Kings College in Charlotte. She retired from Belk Stores Services after 30+ years of employment as an executive secretary.
Nancy was a lifetime member of Matthews United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending the Senior Lunch program at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her children; Pam (Benjie) White, Tom (Lisa) Garrison and Lou (Terry) Toms, grandchildren; Ginger White, Travis (Cara) Toms, Abby Toms and Paul (Kim) DeValle and great grandsons; Brycen and Hunter Toms and Blake DeValle.
Memorials may be sent to the Matthews Help Center 119 N Ames St, Matthews, NC 28105 in Nancy’s honor.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227.
