Mrs. Harkey was born on January 28, 1941 in Charlotte, daughter of Myrle P. Renfrow and John R. “Jack” Renfrow of Charlotte.
Robbie was a proud member of the last class to graduate from Central High School in 1959. She then attended Kings College in Charlotte. She spent most of her life with the love of her life, her dear Jimmy, whom she dated since the eighth grade.
For many years Robbie was counter sales manager and later, owner of Renfrow Tile Distributing Co. There was no doubt WHO ran the place! Mrs. Harkey was an active member of the Mecklenburg Jaycettes for many years, and served as President. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver to countless relatives and friends. Robbie was a giver and a helper to anyone in need. She had a heart of gold. She cherished her four boys, their spouses, and her precious granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harkey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy and sweet son, Jackie. Mrs Harkey is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Craft (Donald) of Winterville, NC; her sons, Reid (Bonnie), Rodney (Ryan Willis), Jeffrey; and granddaughter, Taylor, all of Charlotte; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, wonderful friends, and her faithful companion, Major.
A service to celebrate Robbie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 30th, at Sardis Presbyterian Church, 6100 Sardis Road. There will be a visitation prior in the church Education Hall from 12:30-1:45 PM. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens for those who wish to attend.
