Born August 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the Reverend Howard Ray Wilkinson and Lenora Randall Wilkinson. Miranda graduated from Rankin High School in 1960, and from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Pfeiffer College in 1966, and a Master’s degree in adult education from Appalachian State University in 1989. She worked as a nurse and a nursing instructor at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing from 1966 to 2004, and continued on at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center as Director of Student Programs from 2004 until her retirement in 2013.
Miranda positively affected the lives of thousands of patients as a nurse, and as a teacher of nursing care, she touched the lives of tens of thousands more through the good work of all of her students. Her favorite part of her job was witnessing the “aha moment” when a student grasped a new concept or mastered a new technique.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Franklin Ingram, Jr., survivors include her brother, Howard Randall Wilkinson and his wife, Becky, of Shelby; sons, William Franklin Ingram III and his wife Kelly, of Charlotte and Michael Randall Ingram and his wife, Shannon Stitzel, of Laurel, MD. She has five grandchildren: Korey Michelle Smith, Lenora Paige Ingram, Phoebe Catherine Ingram, Abigail Elizabeth Ingram, ande Madeleine Grace Ingram, as well many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Metrolina Association for the Blind.
