Michael Joseph Santora, 71, of Charlotte, NC went to be with God on the morning of January 22, 2012 at Carolina Medical Carolina, Pineville, NC. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on January 26, 1940 to the late Michael and Annamae Whalen Santora. Michael was employed as the Traffic Manager of Celanese Corp. in Manhattan, NY and transferred with Celanese to Charlotte, NC in 1979. He retired from Hoechst-Celanese in 1996. Mike was a member and former President of The North Carolina Traffic League and former President of the Italian Heritage Society of Charlotte, NC and several small friend groups around Charlotte. Mike was loved by all and never met a stranger and he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and loved all of the family. Mike will be missed more than words can ever say.
He leaves to cherish loving memories; his loving wife of 30 years, Beverly Lindsey Santora; daughter Diane Jennell and husband Jeff; their children Christopher, Joshua, and Bryan, of Augusta, Ga.; great-grandson Jack, of Superior, WI, son of Christopher; step-daughter Lisia Jordan Shaw and husband Robert of Charlotte, NC; their children Robert A. Shaw, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC and Rachel Shaw Perry of Suffolk , VA.; step-daughter Terri Loria and children Rhiannon Loria and Anthony L. Loria of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, LaDoyt E. Lindsey, Jr., of Rock Hill, SC; sisters-in-law, Anne L. McDaniel of Mint Hill, NC and Janet L. Turner and husband Michael of Charlotte, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Charlotte and across the country. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25 from 6:00 until 8:30 PM at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte. Funeral service will be on January 26, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 S. Blvd., Charlotte with burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte. The family would like to thank Engine 24 and Medic for doing all they could to keep Mike with us and the emergency room staff at CMC South for being so kind to the family.
