Melody Rose Ethridge

Melody Rose Woodcock Ethridge, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed on to her Heavenly home on December 13, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by her family. Melody was 49 years old.

An inspiration to everyone, Melody fought so hard for so long, never gave up and kept smiling. She worried more about her family than herself and is now in Heaven and hurting no more.

Born December 3, 1965 in Burgaw, North Carolina, Melody was a daughter of the late Roy C. Woodcock and Elizabeth Walker Woodcock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a very special brother-in-law, Donnie Harrill.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Ethridge; daughter, Crystal Rose; sisters, Wendy Lewis and her husband, Russell, and Debbie Harrill; nephew, Jacob Lewis; best friend, Alyssa Thompson; and many loving aunts and uncles.

Melody had many, many loving friends both in Charlotte and Wilmington, who will all miss her dearly. She was always the bright spot in the room spreading smiles and making time for the many people she loved. Melody also loved gardening, flowers, butterflies and flower fairies, and being outdoors with her beloved dogs. A beautiful Angel has earned the wings she always dreamed about.

A celebration of Melody’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
