Ms. Hinson, 91, of Mint Hill, NC, formerly of Kannapolis, died on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Maxine was born in Milton-Freewater, Oregon on April 13, 1922 to the late William Espy and Nora Rufty Lumsden. Maxine graduated in 1940 from the J.W. Cannon High School in Kannapolis. She was a devoted homemaker to her family throughout the majority of her working years; however, she also worked in Cannon Mills in her earlier years and in her later years in bookkeeping with her husband in their Harley-Davidson dealership.
Maxine loved and honored our Lord in her daily Christian life. She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Charlotte with her husband for years, where she truly enjoyed the companionship of many good friends. She was a devoted wife and was a loving, nurturing, gracious mother to her children. To her family and to those who knew her, she was an honorable lady who will be missed and remembered for her sweet, humble, soft-spoken, generous, and loving disposition.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Hinson, of Mint Hill, in November, 2011. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Hinson of Mint Hill, her son, Gary Hinson and his wife Peggy of Fayetteville, her son, Donnie Hinson and his wife Sharon of Charlotte, grandson, Chase Hinson of Atlanta, GA., granddaughter, Hayley Hinson of Athens, GA; three sisters, Connie Brown and husband Charlie of Landis, Evelyn Scarborough of Salisbury, Lois Avant of Kannapolis, and one brother, Clifford Lumsden and wife Elouise of China Grove.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00P.M on Friday, August 2, 2013 at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at McEwen officiated by Hospice Chaplain Rev. Harold Hudson. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
