Mary Bradley Flock

After graduating from Charlotte Central High School and from Queen's College, Mary had multiple careers. She started her working life as a writer for a children's program. Over the years, she wrote for and edited newsmagazines for Queen's College, NCNB and CPCC. She loved writing whether the work-in-hand was fiction or nonfiction, poetry or prose.

She was also a businesswoman, owning and operating two different types of small business with retail storefronts and her own real estate business. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and crafts, and reading.

She is survived by two sisters, Beverly (Buddy) Cato and Elizabeth Caudle, three children, Amanda (Chris) Gertig, Brad (Suzan) Johnston, and Kit (Judy) Johnston, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Zena, her first husband, Zeke, her second husband, Al, and one grandchild, Pete.

Her funeral will be held at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Rd Mint Hill, NC 28227 at 1:00pm, Wednesday, February 21st, 2024. There will be no graveside service.
