Mary Elaine Howell Bailes (65) passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in Charlotte, NC.
Born on March 18, 1957 in Charlotte to Dewey McDonald Howell and Mary Edith Mullis, Elaine graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UNC Charlotte. This degree would pique her interest in volunteering for numerous political causes throughout her adult life.
Elaine was a loss prevention specialist with UPS during most of her adult life. As a hobby, she spent many hours creating beautiful leather wallets and belts that she sold in a kiosk at SouthPark Mall.
Left to mourn her loss is her husband Charles L. Bailes, Jr and brothers Wayne and Donnie Howell. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents.
The family will greet friends starting at noon on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. Funeral service will begin at 1pm with burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park.
