Marshall Freeman Hinson Sr.

Marshall Freeman “Buck” Hinson, Sr. 69, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC. He was born in Duval County, FL, but raised in Augusta, GA, the son of the late Marshall Forehand Hinson and Verba Mae Sellers. He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Peter Hinson; grandson, Marshall Freeman “Trey” Hinson, III; brother, Carlos “Bo” Hinson and sister, Louise Hinson Buchanan.

Buck was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy. He later worked at Pepsi Bottling Company of Charlotte for 27 years then retired from Choice Beverage Company, Gastonia Plant in 2010. Buck was avid Carolina Panther and NASCAR fan. Before his illness, Buck and his wife enjoyed road trips on their motorcycles with their friends of Charlotte Roadriders and Southern Cruisers. They also participated in Toys 4 Tots charities with the Concerned Bikers Association for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Bailey Hinson. Also, his children, Marshall Freeman Hinson Jr. (Nicole), Donna Bullock, Douglas Hinson (Helen), with step- children, Tracey Smith, Christy Etter, and Dana Howard (Paul). Mr. Hinson is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Brittany Smith, Justin Etter, Paula Howard , Christian Smith, Katelyn Etter, Kereigh Etter, Amanda Bullock, Brandon Knight, Sara Bullock, Zachary Howard, Lexi Howard, Aidan Knight, William Hinson, Abbigale Hinson, and Georgiana Hinson.

Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Dr. Charlotte, North Carolina will be servicing the family. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 11:00am- 12:00, then a service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hinson will be held at 12:00pm. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Pastor Ray Pennell will be officiating.
