Margaret Burton

Margaret was Secretary-Treasurer at the Jim Burton Agency from its inception in 1963 until retiring in 1995. She was a long time member of The Little Church on the Lane. She loved spending time at their home on Lake Wylie and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Howard Burton, on Sept. 11, 2009, after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by four sons: James “Jim” Burton and wife, Barbara, of Cornelius, N.C.; John Michael “Mike” Burton and wife, Nancy, of Greenville, S.C.; Charles Richard “Chuck” Burton and wife, Jane, of Matthews, N.C.; and Robert Thomas “Bob” Burton and wife, Wanda of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren: Stephanie Pendleton and husband Scott of Fort Mill, S.C.; Carrie Dunham and husband Jeff of Charlotte, N.C.; Scott Burton and wife Katie of Greenville, S.C.; and Ashley King and husband Trevor of Greer, S.C. Margaret also is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Tyler and Maxwell Pendleton, Davis Dunham, Zachary Burton and Karis, Trace and Luke King.

A service to celebrate Margaret Burton’s life will be held Wednesday, August. 9, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte beginning at 1:00pm. Visitation will take place an hour prior. Entombment will be at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.
