He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Marlies Rosas; his sons Scott Rosas and Steven Rosas, his daughter Janice Rosas, three grandchildren, beloved relatives, and countless friends.
Chief Warrant 4 (R) was born and raised in San Antonio, TX to parents Manuel and Aurora Rosas. He enlisted in the Armed Forces after high school at the age of 18. During his long military career he was stationed in Europe and around the US. Mr. Rosas served his country in combat in Vietnam and Desert Storm and was proud to be a Black Hawk pilot, military photographer, fireman, Soldier, as well as a maintenance officer. He retired after 32 years of selfless service.
After his time in the military he began his civilian career in North Carolina as an OSHA inspector. In his next career move he was able to fulfill his dream of opening his own safety consulting and training firm. He enjoyed enforcing protective workplace safety and health standards and, aligned with his safety business, he was proud to offer bilingual CPR and First Aid instruction.
During retirement he enjoyed working on his ’57 Chevy Bel Air, going on road trips, photography, and spending time with his family.
Mel will be remembered as a provider for his family, a thoughtful friend, and a generous soul to all he met.
Funeral Services for Mr. Rosas will be at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210 on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 9:30 am.
Burial will be private.
