Rev. Dr. Louis Pierre Moore

February 21, 1963. He departed this temporal life on Saturday January 16,

2021 at Atrium Health-Main. Dr. Moore is the tenth of eleven children of

the Late Louis Moore and Late Alevia Moore. Though he was a boxer as a

young man, the greatest victory of his life was when he was called home to

get his reward.

Dr. Moore joined Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church at an early age. He

served faithfully on the Usher Board where he was honored as Usher of the

year in the Youth Department. In 1982, he was honored as Greater Mt.

Sinai’s Man of The Year. Dr. Moore accepted the call to the Ministry at the

age of 17 and preached his initial sermon under the leadership of Rev.

Norman E. Kerry Sr. He was ordained in 1983 by the Mecklenburg General

Baptist Association.

He is a graduate of Garinger High School. Dr. Moore received his Bachelor

of Arts Degree in Religion and Philosophy and later received his Master of

Divinity from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina. He earned his

Doctor of Ministry Degree in Christian Leadership from Gordon-Cornwell

Theological Seminary Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Moore, served as First Vice Moderator and President of the United

Missionary Baptist Association from 1993 Through 1998. He also was a

member of the Substance Abuse Board Of Directors.

Dr. Moore served as Pastor of St. Paul Community Baptist Church for eight

years. He also pastored New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church for a

number of years both of which are located here in Charlotte, North

Carolina.

In 1993, Dr. Moore completed a basic unit in Pastoral Care and later in

1999, he completed a Chaplain Residency in Clinical Pastoral Care

Education both at Carolinas Medical Center-Main ( Atrium Health). In 2003,

Dr. Moore was employed with the state of North Carolina Department of

Corrections at Brown Creek Correctional Institution in Polkton, North

Carolina. For 9 years he provided clinical care to the institution’s staff and

over 1400 inmates in minimum security. Dr. Moore was reemployed with

Carolinas Medical Center-Main in 2012 as a Spiritual Care And Education

Staff Chaplain. His work environment was where hope, sincerity and

compassion was needed on a consistent basis supporting individuals and

families faced with trauma.

Prior to his transition, he was currently serving as Chaplain at Atrium

Health for the past nine years. His continuous goal was to maintain a

responsible and healthy leadership, chaplaincy, spiritual caregiver and

community member.

Preceded in death by his parents Louis Moore and Alevia Moore; brothers

Jimmy Moore and Harry Moore; grandson Caleb Joseph.

Dr. Louis Pierre Moore leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Louis

Pierre Moore, Laquann Moore, daughter, Kiana A. Moore and honorary daughters: D’miyah Cason

and Destiny Cason. Sisters: Doris Moore, Sylvia Moore, Karen Moore, Iris

Moore and Sophia Shuler. Brothers: Jerry Moore, Eric Moore and Julius

Moore. Grandchildren: Camberen Pierre Joseph, Page Newton Moore and

honorary niece Erica Steele, fiancé Mildred A. Davis. A loving and supportive God Family the late

Trustee Charles Foman, Josephine Foman and the Foman family.

A Word Of Thanks

guidance, family values, love and integrity. I received love on a daily basis.

They always treated me as one of their own. They always welcomed me to

spend holidays, special days as well as weekly Sunday afternoon dinners

with them.”
